Circle of Comfort Charity
Article written by: Susan Neilson
Established in 2007 - Circle of Comfort (SC038004) is a registered Scottish charity based here in Dunfermline delivering Integrated Therapy to people living with cancer. Reflexology, therapeutic massage and aromatherapy are given to people who are experiencing the physical and emotional side-effects that often accompany a cancer diagnosis.
Our motto is “Giving our Time for You”. We are passionate about the services we provide and take every opportunity to raise awareness of our charity so more people can benefit from our therapy treatments. We are based in Dunfermline but cover the full areas of Fife and Perthshire.
These therapies are provided free of charge to the client by fully qualified therapists, in the comfort of their own home or in hospital. The charity offers four treatment sessions tailored to each person’s individual circumstances.
Clients who have received support report real benefits from the treatments, from increased relaxation and strength to improvements in wellbeing during what can be a very uncertain and worrying time.
But Circle of Comfort can only offer these vital services because of the generosity and creativity of supporters like you. Fundraising isn’t just appreciated — it’s at the heart of how the charity survives and thrives.
Community-led fundraising events would help ensure that the charity can continue to operate and respond to referrals from healthcare professionals or individuals themselves.
Whether it’s a one-off donation, a sponsored walk, or a community event, every effort helps sustain this compassionate service. Fundraising also raises awareness — helping more families who might benefit from complementary therapy to find out that it exists right here within their community.
Circle of Comfort encourages local supporters to organise their own events, and the charity is happy to help by publicising your event on its website and social media. No event is too big or too small — what matters most is the support it generates for people facing cancer in our area.
Here are some community-friendly ideas:
Coffee mornings / bake sales – Bring neighbours together for tea, cake and charity chats.
Sponsored challenges – Walk, run, cycle or swim — choose a distance that suits you and ask friends for sponsorship.
Quiz nights or themed dinners – Host a quiz in your local hall or a themed supper with ticket sales going to the charity.
Craft fairs / markets – Sell homemade crafts or gifts, with proceeds donated.
School or workplace events – Non-uniform days, dress-down days or team sports can all raise vital funds.
