Family Fun Day - Saturday 15th August 2026

Willow Weaving Workshop - Saturday 23rd May 2026

In a bid to get the South Dunfermline Community more involved we have negotiated a Willow Weaving Workshop with Rooted Willow Fife. Willow workshops are a chance for you to learn and develop the skills for making things from willow, like bird feeders, plant supports, wreaths, stars and many more beautiful decorative pieces!

This is a remarkably satisfying and rewarding experience. The workshops enable participants to learn the art of willow weaving and practise techniques. This is done with the knowledge that all you have to do is turn up and relax. You also get to take something you have made, and are proud of, home with you to enjoy.

Cost is £30 per person.  Tea and Cake included.

Date: Saturday 23rd May 2026

Time: 1.30 - 3.30pm

Venue: John Marshall Community Centre

Places will be limited and tickets can be booked via the payment link below:

Quiz Night - Friday 8th May 2026

Pitreavie Golf Club kindly hosted our Quiz on 8 May. There was a mixture of regular quiz teams from the golf club as well as groups of friends and even Community Council members.

Andy Martin (AM Discos)  a respected quizmaster from Dunfermline set us 5 rounds of mixed questions, some easy, to lull us into a false sense of security, many more were a bit tricky.  The picture round of faces and logos proved to be a talking point, the winners The Clueless Covenanters received a bottle of wine and a box of chocolates.

Rolling £1 coins at the Brandy Bottle was very competitive, eventually won by Ali Moore, £53 was raised.

It was a close run race, runners up Blackwood Bairns were beaten by just 1 point by Jumpers for Goalposts, we hope they spend the £100 wisely.

Feedback indicated it was a good evening and one we hope to repeat.

Over 65’s Evening - Sunday 12th April 2026

Sunday evening 12th April saw us gathered in the Pitbauchlie House Hotel to enjoy our annual entertainment event for residents aged over 65. This has become a very popular event over the years. Guests enjoyed a beautiful 2 course meal for £15 with a discount from the hotel.

After the meal, entertainment was ably provided by local resident Charlie Toner. The tunes were lively and the dancers kept the floor busy. We really appreciate the support from residents and from the staff in the Hotel, it brings people together and hopefully helps to encourage folk to be part of the community.

A big thank you to Campion Homes who subsidised the meal for the evening. They have also contributed to the Christmas lunch for the Young at Heart Group and we are very grateful for their support.

Litter Pick - Saturday 11th April 2026

As part of Beautiful Scotland we organised a litter pick on Queensferry Road. In 2 ½ hours our volunteers had collected 25 bags of assorted litter. As well as all the usual rubbish, the volunteers found a pair of boxer shorts, a boxing glove and a small fire extinguisher!

Many thanks to all the volunteers, the road looks much cleaner, we hope it stays that way.

Family Fun Day 2025

What a Fabulous Day - 16th August 2025

The team worked hard to put this first event since before Covid together and I think it paid off. The weather which of course no-one can organise was really in our favour, with blue skies and bright sunshine. Residents turned out in force to support us.

The venue was a new one for us and proved to be a lot of work to secure, but thanks must go to the staff of OCS, especially Trevor the janitor on duty at the school. The inflatables were varied and well used, the climbing wall was equally busy and enjoyed by all ages. Thanks must go to all the stall holders for coming along and selling their crafts. The food stalls did a roaring trade with the Scouts almost running out of food. Face painters did a magnificent job, with many children sporting intricate designs. Local organisations gave out lots of leaflets and information, hopefully attracting more members. We have had so much positive feedback from stall holders and residents. Radio West Fife did a wonderful job of all the announcements and the music kept us all in a dancing mood.

Many thanks to Brian Duncan, a local resident who offered his assistance in setting up the online platform for advance sales of Raffle Tickets and Wristbands, these proved very popular. Raffle prizes were kindly donated by the advertisers in the newsletter plus a few other sponsors and we are truly grateful for their support.
