Community Council Meetings

What Happens at a Community Council Meeting?
South Dunfermline Community Council (SDCC) holds regular meetings to help residents know about things happening in their area and to have a say in local issues.
SDCC meet once a month, on the first Tuesday of the month at 7.15pm at the Pitcorthie House Hotel on Aberdour Road. Everyone who lives in the South Dunfermline area (if you get this newsletter through your door that means you) is welcome to come along.
Before the meeting, the secretary, Morag, emails out an agenda for what will be discussed, as well as the minutes of the last meeting that took place. This helps us to remember what we spoke about last time and stay on track.
We usually arrive a little early to say hello, then our chair, Alasdair, starts the meeting by welcoming everyone and asking people to introduce themselves. It’s always good to know who’s who. Alasdair then follows the agenda to make sure we cover all of the issues. Alasdair invites attendees to share their updates and makes sure everyone gets a chance to ask questions or give their opinion, if they want to.
Local issues we discuss during the meeting are:
• Planning permission and updates - such as latest developments with the Lidl site at Pitcorthie.
• Updates from our Community Policing team on matters of safety and crime.
Updates from our Councillors about any Fife Council meetings or decisions they have been involved in.
• Updates from our treasurer to discuss how much money we have and what we will spend it on.
• Planning for local events such as the Over 65s social, the Summer Funday and any ideas we have for new social events (pssst…. we have a Quiz Night in the pipeline - check page 26 for details).
• Local issues - such as parking, overgrown hedges or roadworks.
• Concerns or ideas that come up from local residents.
Everyone is welcome to join the meeting, even just to listen if you prefer not to talk. You can email sdcc2014@outlook.com to receive the agenda or just come along to the next meeting on Tuesday 7th April at Pitbauchlie House Hotel.
